A coyote ran through the Arizona desert,
His paws beat the sand like a drum made of skin and bone
He stopped to rest by a snarl of agave and looked alert
At the faraway knells of thunder in a sky the colour of stone
So he bowed his head low in the acceptance of a convert
Carried on his way to the place where he would make his throne
Huēhuecoyōtl
